Before becoming a household name, Ice-T lived a life marked by profound loss, instability, and survival. Born Tracy Lauren Marrow in Newark, New Jersey, his early years were shaped by tragedy. He lost his mother to a sudden heart attack while still a child, and just a few years later, his father died in similar circumstances. By the age of 13, he had been left without either parent, forced to navigate life largely on his own.
