Amber Siyavus, a memorable contestant from the eighth season of Big Brother, died on Friday, October 9, 2026, in Clark County, Nevada. She was 46. Records from the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner confirmed the death. The cause and manner remain under investigation and have not been publicly determined. TMZ was among the first outlets to report the news, and host Julie Chen Moonves later shared a tribute on Instagram, writing that she would remember Amber for her heart and honesty.

For viewers who watched Big Brother 8 in 2007, Amber quickly became one of the season’s most recognizable personalities. She entered the house as a single mother from Las Vegas, where she worked as a cocktail waitress at Caesars Palace. She spent more than 60 days inside the house, finished in seventh place, and became the third member of the jury. Known for wearing her emotions openly, she cried often during difficult moments and earned the nickname “Whamber” from fellow houseguests. Behind the nickname was a contestant who formed genuine connections. She grew especially close with Dustin Erikstrup and Jameka Cameron, alliances that shaped much of her time in the game. She was also the only houseguest that season to reach the jury phase without winning a Head of Household or Power of Veto competition.

Amber spoke often about her daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, while on the show. In 2018, Lexi died at 18 in an apparent suicide, a loss that stayed with the family. Amber had been married to Christopher Tomcavage; the couple had two children, Lexi and a son, Tyler, before the divorce. In the years after the show she remained a familiar name among longtime fans, even as she lived a quieter life in Nevada.

The news of her death has drawn condolences from former castmates and viewers who remembered her honesty in the Diary Room and the open way she talked about her life outside the house. With the coroner’s investigation still pending, official details about the circumstances have not been released. What is known is the record she left on the show: more than two months in the house, seventh place, and a nickname that stuck because she never hid what she felt.
